“The Shawãdawa Rawaputu Rapé is a sacred preparation made under the full moon’s influence, using natural tobacco, Tsunu ashes, and three traditional Shawãdawa medicines: Rawaputu, Putuvi, and Kapayuba. This rapé is widely used to relieve headaches, colds, insomnia, mental disorders, and fatigue. Additionally, it is known for providing strength for activities such as planting, fishing, and hunting, being suitable for daily use without the need for a special diet.

The Shawãdawa, who inhabit the banks of the upper Juruá River in four demarcated indigenous lands, have the primary goal of protecting their lands and forests, where all their natural medicines are found. Preserving their culture and ancestral teachings is a priority for this people. The use of their sacred medicines, such as rapé, is an essential part of the healing study and teachings passed down through generations.
